Phyllis Vanderpool

Phyllis Marceil Vanderpool, age 80, of Newark, Ohio passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2026. Phyllis was born on May 24, 1945 in Wabash, Indiana to Burble and Della Simpson. Phyllis married her high school sweetheart, Charles “Dick” Vanderpool on December 14, 1962. They were married for 54 beautiful years and raised a wonderful family.    

Phyllis is preceded in death by her husband: Dick Vanderpool, her parents: Burble and Della Simpson, her brother: Welby Simpson and sister: Madene Simpson.  

Phyllis is survived by her daughter: Angella Vanderpool (Ray Berry); sisters Georgia Ervin and Geneva Hively; grandchildren: Cory (Mallory) Hutto, Tyler Hutto, Blake (Heather) Hutto; great grandchildren: Lane, Owen and Charli; and many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.

Phyllis was a devoted wife and mother. Family meant everything to her!  So often you would look over and she would  just be beaming with pride and joy over her family.  She loved raising her kids and was the best Mimi and Mimi Great. If she wasn’t with her family, she would be found gardening and preparing meals.  She was an excellent cook! Mimi’s smile and contagious laugh will be dearly missed by everyone that loved her!
